Bridges District Revival - February 7, 2015

Bridges District Superintendent Rev. Schuyler Rhodes opened the Fires of Revival worship at Fairfield First UM Church with a rousing welcome to the over 300 attendees. The full day event drew laity and clergy from a small number of the 95 churches in Bridges District.

We hope that by sharing a small part of our experience of that day, it will “nurture and grow all of us in our walk as disciples of Jesus”.

The morning and afternoon worships were filled with The Word and songs, in Cantonese, English, Fijian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Swahili, Tagalog, and Zulu. We even sang Kanisa Litajengua, “O, who will build the church now?” There was passionate preaching punctuated by a lot of Amen’s and handclapping. During the morning communion service, worshippers were invited to complete and leave a prayer card, “For such a time as this, I pray _ _ _ _ _ _ _”

I came away with thoughts from being in the Revival Leadership of Growing Disciples session, Three F’s. A disciple must have Fire, Faith and Fruits. I most certainly observed Fire, Faith and Fruits as many inspiring leaders, both lay and clergy showed their love and commitment for our church, our District and our Annual Conference. – Burt Yin
